1. About these terms
This website is run by The Imagine Trust (“the Trust”, “we”, “us”), a charitable trust based in Bengaluru that operates the Imagine Clothes Bank. By using this website, donating, or volunteering with us, you agree to these terms. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal information.
2. Using this website
This website tells you about our work and lets you contact us, offer clothes, volunteer and donate. Please use it only for those purposes and don’t submit false information, someone else’s details without their permission, or anything unlawful or abusive.
We try to keep everything here accurate, but timings, campaigns and the items we need can change. If you’re making a special trip, message us on WhatsApp first to confirm.
3. Donating clothes
What we accept
- Clean, gently used clothing for men, women and children, in a condition you would give to a friend.
- During campaigns, such as the Blanket Challenge, we may ask only for particular items like blankets and warm clothes. Please check the website before you send anything.
Please don’t send clothes that are torn, stained, damp or unwashed. We may politely decline any item that isn’t suitable, or that we don’t have room for.
Dropping off or sending clothes
- Drop-offs are accepted Monday to Saturday during the hours shown on this website. Clothes are not accepted on Sundays, which are distribution days.
- You can also send a parcel through a delivery service. Any delivery charges are paid by you.
- Please check pockets before donating. We can’t be responsible for money, documents or valuables left in donated items.
What happens to your donation
Once clothes are handed over to us, they become the property of the Trust and can’t be returned. We sort every item and offer it to families at the Clothes Bank. Items that aren’t suitable for the Clothes Bank may be passed on to other charitable organisations or sent for responsible recycling, so that nothing you give goes to waste.
4. Visiting the Clothes Bank
The Clothes Bank is open to anyone in need. Visitors choose the clothes they want, displayed like a shop, and pay a token ₹1 per item, which preserves their dignity and choice. To make sure there is enough for everyone, we may limit how many items each person or family takes in a visit.
Everyone at the centre, whether visitor, volunteer or donor, is expected to treat others with respect. We may ask anyone who behaves in an abusive or unsafe way to leave.
5. Collection drives
We’re grateful to everyone who runs a collection drive in their apartment, office, school or community. If you organise one for the Imagine Clothes Bank:
- Please register it with us first through the clothes donation form, so we can plan the pick-up or drop-off.
- Collect clothes only. Don’t collect money in the Trust’s name unless we have agreed to it in writing.
- Follow the same “clean, gently used” guidelines above.
- You may use our name to describe the drive, but not to suggest that the Trust organises or is responsible for it unless we have agreed to that.
6. Money donations
- Voluntary: all donations are voluntary gifts and are used for the Imagine Clothes Bank and the Trust’s other charitable work.
- Pay only to our official account: please pay only to the bank account, UPI ID or QR code shown on this website. We will never ask you to pay into a personal account. If anyone does, please don’t pay, and tell us.
- Confirm your donation: after paying, please fill in the confirmation form with your transaction ID so we can match your payment and thank you.
- Receipts: if you ask for a receipt, we will email one, using the PAN and address you provide. Whether a donation qualifies for a tax deduction depends on the Trust’s registration status under the Income-tax Act at the time and on your own circumstances. Please check with us before claiming a deduction.
- Refunds: donations are not normally refundable. If you paid by mistake, paid twice or entered the wrong amount, write to us within 30 days with your transaction ID and we will return the amount to the same account.
- Donating from outside India: if you are not an Indian citizen, or would be paying from a bank account outside India, please contact us before donating so we can tell you whether we are able to accept it.
7. Volunteering
- Volunteering is unpaid and voluntary. It doesn’t create any employment or contractual relationship with the Trust.
- Please follow the guidance of our volunteer coordinators, and treat every visitor with warmth and respect. They are guests, not recipients of charity.
- Don’t photograph or film visitors, especially children, without their permission and ours, and never share their personal details.
- Volunteers under 18 need the consent of a parent or guardian.
- We may decline or end a volunteering arrangement at our discretion, for example for safety reasons.
- Please take reasonable care of yourself and others at the centre and at drives. Let a coordinator know about anything unsafe straight away.
8. Our name, logo & content
The Imagine Trust and Imagine Clothes Bank names, our logo, and the text and photographs on this website belong to the Trust or are used with permission. You’re welcome to share our posts and pages to spread the word. Please don’t use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse something, or to raise funds, without our written permission.
