- We never sell, rent or trade your information, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
- We never see your UPI PIN, card details or net-banking password.
- You can ask us to show, correct or delete your information at any time by writing to theimaginetrust@gmail.com.
1. Who we are
The Imagine Trust (“the Trust”, “we”, “us”) is a charitable trust based in Bengaluru. Our main programme is the Imagine Clothes Bank, where families in need choose good-quality donated clothes with dignity. This policy covers this website and the information you give us through it, by email or on WhatsApp.
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”), the Trust is the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described here, and you are the Data Principal.
2. What we collect and why
We collect personal data only when you choose to give it to us. Each form on this site asks for the following:
| When you… | We collect | We use it to |
|---|---|---|
| Send us a message | Name, email, phone (optional), the topic and your message | Reply to your enquiry |
| Sign up to volunteer | Name, phone, email, area of Bengaluru, how and how often you’d like to help, any notes you add | Contact you, plan Sunday shifts and collection drives, and match you to suitable tasks |
| Offer clothes or organise a collection drive | Name, phone, email (optional), area, what you’re donating and roughly how much, your preferred date; for a drive, the name of your apartment, community or organisation and its approximate size | Confirm your drop-off or drive and make sure we have space and volunteers ready |
| Confirm a money donation | Name, email, phone (optional), amount, payment method, transaction ID / UTR and payment date | Match your payment to our bank records, thank you, and keep accurate accounts |
| Ask for a donation receipt | Your PAN and postal address, in addition to the above | Issue your receipt and meet our reporting obligations under Indian tax law |
| Email or WhatsApp us | Whatever you choose to include, plus your email address or phone number | Reply to you |
We rely on your consent, which you give by submitting a form or contacting us, and, for donation records, on our legal obligations to keep accounts. We don’t use your information for anything unrelated to the reason you gave it, and we will only send you updates about our work if you ask us to.
We don’t collect sensitive information such as health, religion or caste, and we ask you not to include it in messages.
3. Payments
Money donations are made directly from your bank or UPI app (for example GPay, PhonePe or Paytm) to the Trust’s ICICI Bank account, either by scanning our QR code, by sending to our UPI ID, or by bank transfer. The payment is handled entirely by your bank, your UPI app and ICICI Bank under their own terms and privacy policies.
We do not receive or store your UPI PIN, card number, CVV or net-banking credentials. We see only what appears on our bank statement (such as the amount, date, reference number and, sometimes, the sender’s name or UPI ID) and what you tell us on the confirmation form.
4. Where your information is kept
When you submit a form, your answers are saved to a Google Sheet held in the Trust’s Google account, and a copy is emailed to theimaginetrust@gmail.com so we can respond quickly. Google stores this data on our behalf under its own security and privacy commitments, and its servers may be located outside India.
Only trustees and the volunteer coordinators who need it to do their job can see this information.
6. Clothes Bank visitors & photographs
Dignity is at the heart of the Clothes Bank. Families who visit our centre are not asked to share personal details through this website.
We take photographs at the centre, at drives and at events to show our work on this website and on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. We ask before photographing people, we avoid images that could identify children or embarrass anyone, and we will remove a photo of you if you ask us to.
8. How long we keep it
- Enquiries and clothes donation details: up to 2 years after we last hear from you.
- Volunteer details: while you volunteer with us, and up to 2 years after your last activity, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Donation records, including PAN: for as long as Indian tax and accounting laws require us to keep them.
After that, we delete the information or remove anything that identifies you.
9. Keeping it safe
This website is served over an encrypted connection, the Trust’s Google account is protected with a strong password and two-step verification, and access to submissions is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your personal data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
10. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act, you can:
- Ask what we hold about you and how we use it.
- Correct or update information that is wrong or out of date.
- Ask us to delete your information, unless the law requires us to keep it, such as donation records.
- Withdraw your consent at any time. Just tell us; it’s as easy as it was to give. This doesn’t affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to.
- Raise a grievance with us, and if you aren’t satisfied with our response, complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
To use any of these rights, write to us using the details below. We’ll reply within 30 days, and we may need to confirm your identity first.
11. Children
This website is meant for adults. If you are under 18 and would like to volunteer or organise a drive, please ask a parent or guardian to fill in the form for you or contact us with you. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without a parent’s or guardian’s consent, and we will delete it if we find we have.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our work or the law changes. We’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top, and if a change is significant we’ll say so on the website.
